We talk a lot on this blog about international travel. However, not every trip you take has to be overseas. There are some amazing places right in your own backyard, as evident by the trip I just embarked upon.
This past weekend, my good friends and I decided to get away from the “hussle & bustle” of our respective cities and meet in the Pocono Mountains for a leisurely holiday. So we banned together and rented a cottage on Lake Wallenpaupack. Collectively, we brought and cooked loads of food, reverted back to our childhood and played games [we turned all the lights out in the 3-floor cottage and played hide and seek, as well as games like mafia and guesstures, pool and foosball], listened to music and drank from what seemed like a limitless supply of booze, and had an amazing time of it. The weather was spectacular, so we could sit out on the deck and soak up the surrounding nature. It was just what we all needed: the chance to relax— enjoy the vibes and scenery, as well as each other’s company— and unwind. The best thing though: after all was said and done, we didn’t end up suffering from jet lag! -VJ
