Somehow we forgot to include this in our previous posts [about things to do before you embark upon your journey]. But this is very important. Any time you are traveling, you should know the current temperament of your destination. In other words, what is happening in the place you’ve chosen to visit? Is there anything going on that might negatively affect or deter your journey? Riots? Political unrests? Weather conditions?
Basically, what we’re saying here is that staying globally cognizant is important for a traveler. Knowing what’s going on in the world will help in determining the places you go, and will also keep you from getting in way over you head. With that said, every once in awhile, read the international section of the paper, or check out BBC world news. Even if you’re not due a trip, it’s always good to be aware. -VJ
